fter the blockbuster collections of the movie Dabangg 2 (2012), Khan reported Dabangg 3 may take time to hit the floors. Dabangg 3 is an Indian masala movie directed and produced by Arbaaz Khan. It stars Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles, with Prakash Raj playing the role of the main antagonist. It is a prequel to the movie Dabangg 2010. The distribution rights were sold to UTV Motion Picture. Dabangg 3 movie is under production and thriller is scheduled to release year 2014. Dates are not confirmed till yet.

Actor Salman Khan, who is on a promotional spree for his forthcoming movie Dabangg 2, says the third instalment of the franchise will be a prequel to the first film. "We have our third film ready and it will go back and show how Chulbul Pandey becomes Chulbul Pandey. If the second
one becomes a hit, we can go to the third one, which is actually the first one. So Dabangg 3 will be a prequel," said Salman, who plays a corrupt, but kind-hearted cop in the movie.

Dabangg, released in 2012, was directed by Abhinav Kashyap. It featured Salman and then debutant Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

Sonakshi also features in Dabangg 2.
Asked if she will be seen in the prequel, he said: "There is a place for Sonakshi in Dabangg 3 as well. She is there, her father is there, but we don't meet."
For now, Salman is looking forward to Dabangg 2, which has been produced as well as directed by his younger brother Arbaaz. The film, featuring Prakash Raj as the villain, releases December 21.
Talking in a media interview, superstar Salman Khan revealed that they have already planned for third part of the blockbuster 'Dabangg'During a promotional event of 'Dabangg 2', Salman shared that they have the third film ready which will in fact be a prequel of the first one.

"It will go back and show how Chulbul Pandey becomes Chulbul Pandey. If the second one becomes a hit, we can go to the third one, which is actually the first one. So 'Dabangg 3' will be a prequel," quoted Salman in the interview.
Releasing on Dec 20, 'Dabangg 2' is directed and produced by Arbaaz Khan and also has Sonakshi Sinha playing the female lead while Prakash Raj features as the baddie.
Giving more tidbits about the prequel the macho handsome star said that in fact Sonakshi aka Rajo (in the film) and her father (played by Mahesh Manjrekar) will be featuring in 'Dabangg 3'.

Dabangg 2 received mostly mixed reviews from critics in India. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the film 4 out of 5 stars and said "Dabangg 2 has Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan plus entertainment, entertainment and entertainment in large doses" Resham Sengar of Zee TV rated the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, noting "But the actor cum director has kept the standards of the film intact like a pro. Srijana Mitra Das of The Times of India gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and praised the overall style. Mid-Day gave it 3 out of 5 stars and said the film was a treat for diehard Salman Khan fans. Rubina Khan of First Post India gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and said it didn't matter what score she gave the film, it would still do great business. Filmfare stated "Dabangg 2 is a fanboy's dream and wouldn't disappoint the first comer either".

Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the film a score 2.5 out of 5 stars reviewing "This film might also end up raking in a much larger box office booty than Dabangg did, but assessed strictly as a pure entertainer designed for instant mass gratification, it isn’t half as successful. Unfortunately, the Dabangg 2 screenplay is devoid of any fresh ideas". Gaurav Malani, also from The Times of India gave the film a mixed review and recommended skipping it by "watching reruns of Dabangg on television".

now learnt that, in it’s next outing, the film won’t move the story forward but backwards! So naturally it won’t star Sonakshi Sinha as Salman Khan’s onscreen wife. Since the film dates back, it will be before Chulbul met Rajjo and will revolve around inspector Pandey and what made him the person he is. It would be interesting to see what they’ll call the prequel as it can’t be called Dabangg 3.

Talking about being a part of the famous franchise, Sonakshi says, “I don’t know if I will be in Dabangg 3. It all depends on the plot and how they want to take it forward. From what I have heard they want to make a prequel. If that’s the case I may not be in the film and that’s absolutely fine.” The actress says it won’t bother her if she finds herself disconnected from the third part of the film, “I will always be known as the Dabangg girl and that is what matters. If it was a continuation of the story I know for a fact that I would’ve definitely been part of Dabangg 3 but since it’s going back to before Chulbul met Rajjo, I am fine with it.” The film will go on the floors in 2014.
