Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan's upcoming movie Shuddhi is not based on Immortals of Meluha, claims Karan Johar.

According to reports, there were rumours doing the rounds that Karan Johar's Shuddhi, which will be directed by his Agneepath director Karan Malhotra is based on Amish Tripathi's book The immortals of Meluha.

But director Karan Malhotra has cleared the air and said that the movie is not based on the book and has an original script.

While clearing the air on the issue, Karan Johar tweeted, "For all who are asking and want to know! SHUDDHI is not an adaptation of Immortals of Meluha!" Karan tweeted.

"Shuddhi is an original story and screenplay written by my wife Ekta Pathak Malhotra and me" Malhotra later tweeted.

Karan Johar's production Shuddhi starring Hrithik Roshan is a love story. The leading lady of the film is yet to be finalised.
Was it a conscious effort to reunite Hrithik-Kareena on screen almost after 10 years?

"No, it was not a conscious decision, it was just a coincidence. They both look lovely together, the script demanded them and I am lucky to have them on board," he said.

Kareena-Hrithik last outing together was 2003 release 'Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon'. They were also seen together in 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge!' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' and 'Yaadein'.

Talking about Kareena, Malhotra said: "Kareena is a thorough professional and she took it as any other job. I don't think there are any differences."

'Shuddhi', which will be produced by Karan Johar, will go on floors by early next year.

Indian filmmaker Karan Johar is bringing back his “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” stars Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor for his next home production “Shuddhi.”

The film will also see Roshan reunite with his “Agneepath” director Karan Malhotra.

“I’m excited to see Hrithik and Kareena back after 12 years. When Karan (Malhotra) came to me with ‘Shuddhi,’ his desire was to cast Hrithik and Kareena. I spoke to both of them and they were happy to be onboard,” Johar said in a statement.

Johar is confident that the winning trio of Malhotra, Kapoor and Roshan will work for the “intense love story.”

“The film is an intense love story and because it has a reincarnation theme, he has written a script that is dramatic and outstanding. Also, such a theme requires actors who can bring the desired intensity.

“To me, it is a really important casting. But I don’t look at it as a coup. Kareena is beautiful, talented and a powerhouse performer. And Hrithik, well, what can I say? He can melt a nation just with his eyes,” Johar added.
consolidation aspect of Hinduism, in North India, especially Punjab in early 1900s, though it gradually spread across India.[2] Shuddhi had a social reform agenda behind its belligerent rationale and was aimed at abolishing the practise of untouchability by converting outcasts from other religions to Hinduism and integrating them into the mainstream community by elevating their position, and instilling self-confidence and self-determination in them.[2][3][4] The movement strove to reduce the conversions of Hindus to Islam and

Christianity, which were underway at the time.[2]In 1923, Swami Shraddhanand founded the 'Bhartiya Hindu Shuddhi Mahasabha' (Indian Hindu Purification Council) and pushed the agenda of reconversion peacefully, but ultimately created a flashpoint between Hindus and Muslims as it offended Muslim exceptionalists, who argued that Hindus, being dhimmis, do not have any rights to convert others to their faith unlike the Muslims, who are mumins. The main point of contention was the reconversion Malkana Rajputs in western United Province [5] Subsequently the movement became controversial and antagonized the Muslims populace to no end [3] and also led to the martyrdom of the leader of the movement, Swami Shraddhanand in 1926. Post Swami Shraddhanand death this movement continued eith similar missionary zeal.[6]

On 23 February 1928, many Catholic Gaudes in Goa were re-converted to Hinduism notwithstanding the opposition of the Church and the Portuguese government.[7] This was carried out by a Hindu religious institution from Mumbai known as Masurashram, the converts were given Hindu names, but the Portuguese government put impediments in their way to get legal sanction for their new Hindu names.[8] 4851 Catholic Gaudes from Tiswadi, 2174 from Ponda, 250 from Bicholim and 329 from Sattari were re-converted to Hinduism after nearly 400 years. The total number of the converts to Hinduism was 7815.[9]
