 Fruitvale Station (originally titled Fruitvale) is a 2013 American drama film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. It is Coogler's first feature-length film and is based on the true story of Oscar Grant, a young man who was killed by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station in Oakland, California.

The film stars Michael B. Jordan as Oscar Grant. Forest Whitaker is one of the film's producers.Kevin Durand and Chad Michael Murray play the two BART police officers involved in Grant's death. The names of the officers were changed for the film.

Fruitvale Station debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film.It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival where it won the award for Best First Film. The film was released in theaters July 12, 2013.

Ryan Coogler was a graduate student at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts when Grant was shot on January 1, 2009. Following this event, Coogler expressed his desire to make a film about Grant's last day, "I wanted the audience to get to know this guy, to get attached, so that when the situation that happens to him happens, it’s not just like you read it in the paper, you know what I mean? When you know somebody as a human being, you know that life means something." He was able to meet John Burris, the attorney for the Grant family, through a mutual friend and worked closely with him to get information on the case. He also worked closely with the Grant family, after gaining their trust.

In January 2011, Forest Whitaker's production company was looking for new young filmmakers to mentor. Coogler met Head of Production, Nina Yang Bongiovi, and showed her his projects. Shortly after, he had a meeting with Whitaker, who decided to support Fruitvale Coogler met with advisers of Sundance Screenwriters Lab. He developed the script with the help of Creative Advisors Tyger Williams, Jessie Nelson and Zach Sklar. The film received funding from the Feature Film Program (FFP)and the SanFrancisco Film Society.

Coogler had Michael B. Jordan in mind to play the role of Oscar before writing the script.In April 2012, Jordan and Octavia Spencer joined the cast. She also received a co-producer credit as she directly participated in funding the film and contacted investors when a deal was lost during the filming. Notably, investors included Kathryn Stockett, author of The Help, a bestselling novel adapted as a successful movie. In April 2012, Hannah Beachler asked to be involved in the design of the film.

Fruitvale Station was filmed in Oakland, California, in 20 days in July 2012. Scenes were shot at and around the Bay Area Rapid Transit platform where Grant was killed San Quentin State Prison served as a filming location for a flashback scene with prisoners featured as extras. The film was shot in Super 16 mm format using Arriflex 416 cameras and Zeiss Ultra 16 lenses.
Music

Ludwig Göransson, also a USC gradutate, said of the scoring process: "Ryan and I talked a lot about how sound design was going to have a huge role in the movie and very early on I got sent the actual sound recordings of the Bart Train. I manipulated the train sound and made it almost feel like a dark ambient synth sound and I used it almost throughout the whole Bart platform scene. The other element in the score is lots of layered and manipulated guitars sounding almost like haunting pads." Coogler added: "

One thing that we always wanted to be conscious of with the score, was to make sure that it always felt organic. A lot of the film would play without score, so Ludwig made sure that whenever we brought score in came out of sounds in the environment."

 Fruitvale Station – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be released digitally on September 24, 2013 and on CD October 15, 2013 through Lakeshore Records.

It’s still almost five months away from its release date, but looks like Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 has already created a flutter. The film that is said to have a Diwali release (November 3) incidentally has no other Bollywood project hitting the marquee for a period of around 12 days after its release, and two weeks before it. This seems to have set off a babble of words between the exhibitors and the distributors over the profit share margins.

Traditionally, in the first week of a film’s release, the distributors and the producers stake a claim to 52.5 per cent of the film’s total box office collections. The multiplex owners take the remaining amount home.

However, trade insiders say that given that the film will run at theatres for almost 12 day without any opponent, the distributors are asking for a larger share this time.
A source says, “The distributors want to up their stake by claiming the 12-day window as the first week. They are demanding for their 52.5 per cent share for all of the 12 days. However, the multiplex owners want to break the period into two parts -- the first with the four days and the second with the customary seven days.” That way, experts say the exhibitors will stand to gain on the film’s collections.

An insider says, “The distributors want to consider the 12-day period as the first week, as the Hrithik starrer will be breaking the lull period of two weeks before Diwali.

A trade analyst however says that the final decision on the amounts would be taken a day or two before the release. He states, “Right now is too early for this.”

Rakesh Roshan was not available for comment. 

Will it be Monday?
According to sources close to Rakesh Roshan, while Krrish 3 was initially said to release on November 3, a Sunday, the film could be aiming to hit the marquee on the following day. An inside says, “Lakshmi puja falls on Sunday and it can be expected that most families would get busy with the preparations. Releasing the film on Monday would be a safer bet.”is passinng through a really great phase of his career. His last two films, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaraa’ and ”Agneepath’, turned out to be big hits at the box office and everybody is looking forward this next film ‘Krrish 3′

He says, “It’s a good thing. If people expect something from me and I cannot deliver then I guess it would be time for me to sit down and re-evaluate my instincts. Hrithik has been working very hard on the project and he insists that his film will be on par with Hollywood’s superhero films.
“Expect it to be on par with all the superhero films made in Hollywood. It’s definitely going to blow you
away. I can guarantee that,” asserts he.

P.K. (also spelled Peekay) is an upcoming 2014 political satire directed by Rajkumar Hirani,[1] with Junaid Khan co-directing.[2] The film stars Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma and had an initial projected release date of December 25, 2013.[3] Delays in the filming schedule have pushed back the release date to an undetermined 2014 release.[4]

Director Hirani has stated that the film will be a satire about "God and  godmen".

Casting

Hirani cast Sushant Singh Rajput after Kai Po Che director Abhishek Kapoor showed him Rajput's rushes.[6][7] Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt was also cast in the film, with an unnamed source saying that Dutt would be performing a pivotal role.[8] Anushka Sharma, Ram Sethi, and Aamir Khan were all confirmed to be performing in the film, with Khan stated to be portraying lead character P.K.[9][10][11] Arshad Warsi was briefly rumored to be involved with the film, which he later denied, stating that he while he had been offered a role in the film, he had turned it down due to scheduling issues.[12] Rumors also stated that Hirani had approached Imran Khan, which Hirani also denied.
Filming

Co-director Khan began looking for shooting locations in July 2012. Second unit filming was set to begin in late 2012] which was stalled after the rumored departure of three department heads for the film and bad weather stalling initial shoots. Hirani denied rumors that the film would be delayed, stating that principal filming had always been intended to begin in mid-January 2013 in Delhi and Rajasthan in order to "capture the winter of Delhi".Shooting officially began on February 1, 2013 with the filming scheduled to occur over a 45-day period. Some of the scenes were recorded in the famous historical city of Bruges, Belgium, from June 10 to June 19, 2013.

 The actor will have only Bhojpuri dialogues in Raju Hirani's upcoming film Peekay which also features Anushka Sharma.
It looks like Aamir Khan has done it again. Sources say the actor has ditched dialogues in Hindi for a local dialect the second time in his career for Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming film titled Peekay.

For his 2001 film Lagaan, Aamir's dialogues were in local Avadhi. Sources say all of the actor's dialogues in Raju's film will be in Bhojpuri.

A source says, "Aamir's character is from a region in the country where Bhojpuri is spoken locally. He also had dialogues in Bhojpuri for a cola ad he did many years ago."

who is enjoying and extremely happy at the success of her last release Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, starring Imran Khan and Pankaj Kapur, is set to start her 2013’s second venture Peekay, a Rajkumar Hirani film from February. 

“I am very excited to be working with Raju Hirani and Aamir Khan. We will start shooting for the film in February. I hope we try to make a better film than 3 Idiots for the audience," said Anushka during the launch of Femina India’s 10 Most Beautiful Women.  

Talking about the last success, she said, "I am happy that my film is doing well because I have got lot of compliment for my work." The 24-year-old actress also revealed the secret behind her beauty saying, “When I am not shooting I don’t apply makeup. I drink a lot of water and stay happy... whatever you feel from inside reflects outside as well and I strongly believe in that."

Her upcoming film Peekay is going to be the collaboration of three masters Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Amir Khan, who earlier had teamed for box-office hit 3idiots.

This time Aamir is seen donning a traditional Rajasthani costume and the name tag on this outfit suggests he is part of a band. Aamir plays an alcoholic in the movie which also stars Anushka Sharma in the lead and Sushant Singh Rajput in a cameo.

The crew is currently shooting in the Rajasthani city of Jaipur
