War Chhod Na Yaar, touted as India's first war comedy movie, has been directed and written by Faraz Haider, who assisted Dibakar Banerjee on Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!.

"I play the role of an Army captain. It was pleasure playing this part. It was a treat to play an officer for the first time. To wear that uniform gives you a sense of pride and honour," Sharman said.

"I met a few Army men in the process... Their sense of strength, focus and determination is amazing, we have tried to project a few of these things in the film. Shiv Pandit will portray Akshay Kumar's younger brother's role in the film and Aditi Rao Hydari is paired opposite him. Danny Denzongpa will play Boss's mentor and Ronit Roy will play a ruthless police officer who is pitted against Boss.
The film's trailer which was released on 27 August got tremendous response from audience and critics alike. It crossed 3 million views in just 10 days.
Ronit Roy, who plays the role of a police officer up against the titular character, Boss marking the first instance where he is the antagonist of a film. It is also the second consecutive instance where his role is that of a cop with Shootout at Wadala being the last one where he portrayed the role of Inspector Raja Ambat, based on real life encounter specialist
Raja Tambat. Ronit along with Akshay Kumar have an action sequence at the climax of the film, one of the highlights of the film which were shot in temperatures exceeding 47 degree Celsius in Thailand involving high octane stunts that were carried out in the end successfully by both the actors.

Video promotional for the first and title track of the film was released on YouTube on 30 August 2013 on the official channel of T-Series, the music label which has purchased the music rights of the film and subsequently for legal purchase as a soundtrack single on digital music platform, iTunes.
The song named Boss Title Song composed by Meet Bros Anjjan, sung by Anjjan Bhatacharya,Harmeet Singh & Manmeet Singh consists of rap verses performed by Yo Yo Honey Singh with lyrics penned by Kumaar. The promotional video for the second song of the film composed and sung by noted Punjabi Singer and Rapper,
Yo Yo Honey Singh and lyrics by Sahil Kaushal touted to be the costliest music video ever produced in Bollywood with a production cost of around INR6 million (US$92,000) was released on 6 September 2013 after an effective promotional strategy of building hype around it by releasing two teasers named Aunty Police Bulalegi and Bajatey Raho respectively. The teasers containing snippets of the song of length 12 and 10 seconds respectively were both released on 5 September 2013

The song Party All Night being marketed as an party anthem, earlier reported by Indian Media to be Sari Raat Party was made on a budget in excess of INR6 million (US$92,000) with the fee of Sonakshi Sinha being INR6 million (US$92,000) itself thus making it the expensive Bollywood music video ever shot. For Sonakshi Sinha it marks her third special appearance in a song since she had earlier featured in the songs Go Go Govinda and Thank God Its Friday from the 2012 film OMG – Oh My God! and 2013 film Himmatwala respectively. In the former she appeared alongside Prabhu Deva and it also starred Akshay Kumar in a supporting role. Akshay Kumar, who portrays the title character,

Boss and Yo Yo Honey Singh also appear in the track along with 600 foreign models hired for performing as background dancers. The dance moves of the track are choreographed by Sumit Dutt and Raju Khan with Sumit Dutt having earlier choreographed songs like Desi Beat, Dhinka Chika and Character Dheela from the 2011 films, Bodyguard and Ready respectively. The song "Party All Night" was launched on television during grand finale of Dance India Dance Super Moms,
a reality TV series. The reason for choosing the stage being Mithun Chakrabarty's or Mithunda's as he is fondly referred to by Akshay Kumar involvement in both the film and the TV show. He plays the role of Akshay Kumar's character, Boss's father in the former and is a judge in the latter.[21] The ninth track of the music album titled Boss Ganpati – Mix was added to the soundtrack later on request of Akshay Kumar and was recorded two days prior to the release owing to the huge appreciation of the title track which released 10 days ago and this is a version of the song with lyrics crediting the Hindu Elephant God Ganesh as the boss or king of all gods.

The lyrics are written by Kumaar while the song was composed by Meet Bros Anjjan. This version differs from the original one in respect of lyrics pertaining to the Lord and use of Dhols and Lejhim beats
The track will be distributed free of cost across the Ganesh pandals across the city of Mumbai and the state of Maharashtra on the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi which will be visited Kumar himself to offer prayers also. The song Hum Na Tode composed by first time composer P.A.Deepak who has previously mixed sound most notably for A. R. Rahman in Academy Award winning film Slumdog Millionaire and consequently won a Grammy Award for it. The track,

Hum Na Tode is an adapted version of the immensely popular Tamil song, Apdi Pode Pode' or as it is known in Tamil Appadi Podu from the film Ghilli sung by Vishal Dadlani.
The song Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta composed by Kalyanji Anandji for the 1986 film Janbaaz was re-adapted for the Soundtrack by Chirantan Bhatt and has two versions. One is sung by Nikhil D'Souza and the other by Arijit Singh
Joginder Tuteja reviewed the soundtrack album for Rediff. He started the review building on the fact the film with its title and setting of a masala or entertainer film needed an album without a single dull moment for its audience and it delivered just that. Commenting on the title song he credited it to be extremely impressive and the same time groovy at first listen itself. The mix of Hip Hop,
Indian and Western sounds with a tad of Hariyanvi flavour and lyrics by Kumaar with the entertainment of masses being its foci working in the songs tremendous recall value which is extended further by the addition of another remix version of the song and a theme version with vocals by Sonu Kakkar and Khushboo Grewal. The second song,
Hum Na Tode is an adapted track of hugely popular Tamil song, Apdi Pode. A fast paced addictive track, boasting of ferocious and aggressive vocals by Vishal Dadlani,
composition by P.A.Deepak and lyrics by Kumaar it consolidates the albums positive impact on its audiences further. The next track Pitah Se Naam Tera a soft and subtle track after two fast faced ones. The track emphasizes a father's
importance and comparing him to be no less than God. The reviewer appreciated the choice of Sonu Nigam as the singer, the backing vocals of Meet Bros Anjjan and alaps by Sanjay Misra along with the devotional appeal the song commands.
The next song Party All Night composed and sung by Honey Singh according to the reviewer is the pick of the album and in spite of non-nonsensical lyrics manages to be an appeasing affair with a strong connect factor and at the same time maintains to hold the audiences attention from beginning till the end. Thus he upheld the track to be played at Discothèques till the New Year's Eve at least.
The next track Har Kisi Ko a recomposed version by Chirantan Bhatt of the song of the same name originally composed by Kalyanji Anandji from the 1986 film Janbaaz.
The song belonging to soft rock genre scores with the fact that it is not among the umpteen remixes or re-arranged versions that flood the music stands but one that creates makes its own presence felt by reaching out to its audiences more so with Nikhil D'Souza behind the mike in the solo version.
He concluded the review stating This one is a winner!

dis,
Kaanchi... is an upcoming Hindi-language Indian film produced and directed by Subhash Ghai, starring Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty. The lead roles will be played by Tiwari

and newcomer Mishti. The film was was initially supposed to release August 15th, but was pushed back to August 30th because director Subhash Ghai did not want to coincide with the release of

Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara!. However later on, Ghai postponed the release even further and now the film is officially slated for a release on December 6th, 2013.

Kaanchi, which was slated for release on August 15 was first postponed to August 30 as Subhash Ghai wanted to avoid clashes with Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express and Akshay Kumar’s Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara. But Ghai postponed it dobara without confirming the release date. Finally, it’s out that Kaanchi will now release on December 6.

Kaanchi stars the Pyaar Ka Punchnama actor Kartik Aryan and Ghai’s Bengali find, Mishti. It also has veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor in supporting roles.

The musical drama, produced by Subhash Ghai under his banner Mukta Arts has its musical score done by Ismail Darbar and Salim Suleiman. The film unfolds the tale of an innocent girl whose life turns upside down when her father gets shot. It’s the story of evolution followed by revolution.

As we know very little about Ghai’s Kaanchi, we’re glad that finally the mysterious Mishti will be out of the bag on December 6.

Subhash Ghai’s Kaanchi, which marks the debut of his new find Mishti and also stars Pyar Ka Punchnama actor Kartik Tiwari, is slated to release on August 15. The teaser of the movie is out, and it looks like an intense tale about a female protagonist who goes from being a dainty young girl to a fierce woman.

Ghai does not reveal the face of his Bengali leading lady though and tries to create a mystery around her by keeping her in the shadows. But what’s the showman really trying to hide? Haven’t we already seen Mishti’s images on the sets of the film? Sigh…

The film also stars Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty in important roles. Watch the teaser and tell us if it intrigues you…..

As per John Abraham, "Madras Cafe brings us closer to what changed the political history of India."[10] The film, set in India and Sri Lanka, is a political spy thriller set against backdrop of the Sri Lankan civil war.[5] Vikram Singh (John Abraham) is an Indian Army special officer who is appointed by the intelligence

agency Research and Analysis Wing to conduct covert operations in Sri Lanka shortly after Indian Peace Keeping Force was forced to withdraw. As he journeys to Sri Lanka, with the intention of disrupting a rebel group, he discovers the larger issue. There he meets a British journalist (Jaya) who wants to reveal the truth about the civil war, and in the process he uncovers a conspiracy.

John Abraham - Vikram Singh (Indian army officer appointed by the Research and Analysis Wing to carry out operations in Jaffna). Singh is fictitious, Sircar said he had “used real references, portrayed rebel groups, revolutionary freedom fighters, Indian Peace Keeping Forces (and) shown how India got involved and the

chaos”.[11] "I didn’t want to make glitzy thriller like Ek Tha Tiger or Agent Vinod, which seem inspired by
the Bond template. I want to show that intelligence officers are ordinary people who live amongst us. It is only that they have to solve issues where national security is at stake,” says Sircar. Sircar says he needed an actor who can easily get lost in the crowd but with John it seems next to impossible. “The role also requires a certain level of physicality and John Abraham has worked for the role. I agree this is a new territory for him

but I think he has pitched it right. Let’s see how the audiences take him.”
Nargis Fakhri - Jaya (a British war correspondent in Sri Lanka) (inspired by many war correspondents, including Anita Pratap[10]) As for Nargis, Sircar says her voice hasn’t been dubbed. “Nargis Fakhri is playing foreign war correspondent. I needed a girl who looks Indian journalist but has an accent so there is no chance that audience will remember her Rockstar performance while watching Madras CafĂ©. She will converse in English and she is familiar with the language,” says Sircar.[14]

Rashi Khanna - Ruby Singh- wife of Singh[
Ajay Rathnam - Anna Bhaskaran(leader of fictitious rebel group LTF) - closely resembling Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam leader Velupillai Prabhakaran[17]
    Leena Maria Paul - a Tamil rebel[18][19]
    Tinu Menachery[20] - a Tamil rebel
Siddharth Basu - Robin Dutt, a key bureaucrat in Research and Analysis Wing.[21]
    Agnello Dias[22] - a Sri Lankan minister
Piyush Pandey - a Cabinet Secretary of India[23]
    Dibang[24]

John Abraham said that director Shoojit Sircar narrated the script of Madras Cafe to him in 2006 but could not get around to beginning it. "After our last film together, we decided to get back to doing where we started off from. That's the story behind Madras Cafe," he said
Titl

The film was initially titled Jaffna after the northern Sri Lankan city.[26] It was renamed as Madras Cafe, as the plot to kill Gandhi was hatched at the cafe. The original location of the cafe is not specified in the film.[
Castin

John Abraham, the lead actor and one of the producers of the films, plays Vikram Singh, a military officer who is sent to Jaffna on a covert operation. "I had to lose a lot of muscle because these officers look like regular people. When they are in a crowd, they are completely inconspicuous," says John.[28] Pakistani-Czech model-turned-actor Nargis Fakhri was cast to play Jaya, a British journalist in Jaffna.[29] For the role of foreign war correspondent, Nargis Fakhri was chosen because the director required "a girl

[women] who looked Indian but had an [British] accent." Thus this was the first film where her voice wasn't dubbed.[5][30] Shoojit Sircar contacted model Sheetal Mallar for the film,[31] but as things did not work out, newcomer Rashi Khanna was signed for the role, who makes her debut.[15] Malayalam actress Leena Maria said that she plays a female Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam member,[18] Although the executive producer denied her involvement in the project after she was arrested in a cheating case,[32] the director confirmed she is part of the vast cast and her arrest does not affect the film.[19]
Filming

Madras Cafe was shot in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, London and India.[33] The Sri Lankan scenes of the film were shot in India, where the city of Jaffna and large parts of inner Sri Lanka were recreated. "We knew we couldn't shoot this in Sri Lanka, so we shot most of it in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and converted it into a war zone. The second part of the film is based in India, which is the politics part.", said Sircar[5][34]

The first schedule of the film was shot extensively in south India. The second schedule was shot in Mumbai, outside India and again in few parts of south India.[35] Several civil war scenes were shot in Bangkok as firings by Light machine guns were not permitted in India. Real AK-47s, 9mm Berettas and M60s were used, for which special permission was obtained from the local authorities.[36]

The trailer was released on July 12, 2013 along with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.[37]

Uncertainty looms over release of Madras Cafe in Tamil Nadu
Thursday, Aug 22, 2013, 20:17 IST | Place: New Delhi | Agency: PTI

Uncertainly loomed over the scheduled release of controversial Bollywood film Madras Cafe tomorrow in Tamil Nadu, as cine hall owners were skeptical of screening the John Abraham starrer, following continued protests from students and political parties on the ground that it portrayed the outlawed LTTE in bad light.

Prominent cinema halls here have not started reservation of tickets for the film, scheduled for a nationwide release tomorrow.

A cinema hall owner said though no collective decision was taken on the issue, each hall owner would decide, depending on the factors concerning their halls. He indicated that not all cinema halls would release the film.

Student organisations staged a protest today too against release of the film, alleging that it distorts facts.

John Abraham had in a statement in Mumbai yesterday, said, "I would like to urge all of Chennai to support Madras Cafe as a film and allow it to release (as per the schedule). It is a credible film made with a lot of heart and gives audiences something novel to be entertained about, vouching and encouraging cinema."

BJP had demanded that the film not be screened anywhere in India. It also further asked Congress to respond to "opinions" that the film had its backing and sought a national ban against it, warning of "unwanted consequences" subsequent to its release.

The spy thriller "demeaned" Tamils by portraying them as terrorists while supporting Sri Lanka, BJP's state unit president Pon Radhakrishnan said.

Abraham's second production venture, 'Madras Cafe' had courted controversy with pro-Tamil groups up in arms for its depiction of outlawed LTTE allegedly in negative light.

DMK chief M Karunanidhi had urged the state government to ascertain if such charges were true and take appropriate action.

MDMK chief Vaiko and Naam Thamizhar Katchi leader Seeman have already sought a ban on the film, starring Abraham as an Indian intelligence agent in Sri Lanka during the civil war between government and LTTE in late 80s and early 90s.

Naam Thamizhar Katchi had in July given a complaint to police, demanding that the film not be released in the state, citing possible law and order problems.

John Abraham has refused to delete any scene from Madras Cafe, wondering why anyone had a problem with the film when the Censor Board had cleared it.
